From its home base in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, 37-year-old CFMoto has been making strides in the US market for nearly two decades now.

While the brand’s sport and naked bikes offer the most variety stateside and its retro-styled 450CL-C cruiser looks like a dream, its latest adventure bike could give rivals sleepless nights.

The price, capability and style of the upcoming Ibex 950 should rattle the cages of better-known moto brands.

After all, the powerful 1000MT-X’s price is already undercutting similar-sized bikes from other brands overseas, while a military-inspired variant in particular turns heads.

Freshly certified for the US market, where it will be sold as the Ibex 950, this capable and powerful liter bike aims to do the same when it reaches our shores.

Price chopper

Over in Europe, the 2026 CFMoto 1000MT-X starts at €10,490, which roughly converts to just over $12,300 USD.

While the Ibex 950’s price and release date have not yet been announced, the latter is expected to be in that range.

In addition to Tactical Green, the overseas version of the bike also comes in Aerolite Grey. Fingers crossed, both varieties roll out stateside as well.

That would be quite a tempting price for a liter-class ADV, coming in well under the figures for iconic bikes from better-known brands.

For comparison, Honda’s admittedly larger CRF11000L Africa Twin starts at €16,449 (~$19,400) in Germany, a price on par with similarly sized bikes from Triumph, Husqvarna and others — but a whopping 65 percent more than the 1000MT-X.

As RideApart notes, CFMoto’s bike is even cheaper than some smaller adventure bikes, including Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 (€12,599 in Germany), not to mention BMW’s F 900 GS Adventure, which now starts stateside at $15,195.

The Ibex 950 will become the biggest CFMoto ADV on the US market. Even so, it still dips well under 500 pounds.

The bike’s silhouette resembles KTM’s 890 Adventure R, which makes sense given CFMoto’s partnership with the struggling Austrian brand.

However, the bike is also pushing the pace with regard to that manufacturer, because the Ibex 950 looks to roll out long before the much-hyped but not-yet-even-announced KTM 990 Adventure.

Liter of the pack?

While CFMoto may not have the North American name recognition of the aforementioned brands, it already has a strong stateside foothold, with more than a dozen bikes available here.

Among those are two competitively priced adventure bikes, the $6,499 Ibex 450 and the $10,299 Ibex 800 E, which goes by the name 800MT-X in Europe.

The 1000 MT-X/Ibex 950 is bigger, stronger and, assuming the paint schemes carry over, more stylish, led by the camo-infused dark green and black colorway, though the topo-themed light blue and silver variant is no slouch either.

As Cycle World points out, the engine is a somewhat downtuned version of the KTM LC8c parallel twin used in 990 RC R, a 947cc beast making 111.3 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 77.4 lb.-ft. at 6,250 rpm.

Despite a major boost in power and size over the Ibex 800 E, the new bike weighs less than five pounds more, with a curb weight of 489.4 pounds (versus 485).

Other highlights include a fully adjustable 48mm KYB upside-down fork and rear monoshock (both offering up to nine inches of suspension travel) and Brembo-powered brakes, plus cornering ABS and traction control (both courtesy of Bosch).

The wire wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR dual-purpose rubber, but, at 21 inches front and 18 rear, they are sized to take on rugged off-road tires; given this bike’s anticipated price, your wallet should be sized to afford them.

Availability and pricing

The 2026 CFMoto 1000MT-X is available overseas starting at €10,490 (~$12,300 USD). While the US release date has yet to be announced, industry insiders estimate the 2027 CFMoto Ibex 950 will have an MSRP in the $12,000 range.
