Suzuki’s Gorgeous, Affordable New Bike Boasts the Best of Both Worlds

In an ideal world, avid riders would have a sprawling garage filled with a range of motorcycles, giving us the chance to choose the perfect weapon for every ride.

Sadly, most of us do not have that luxury, forcing us to choose the type of bike (or possibly bikes) that suits how we plan to use it/them most.

However, if your favorite modes include longer rides and sporty action, Suzuki’s latest release could be your new one-bike quiver.

The 2027 SV-7GX promises not only good looks and modern tech but a blend of sporty and touring-oriented traits that won’t leave you wanting (too much) in either scenario.

Multi-purpose moto

Though the bike is new (we covered its unveiling last fall), the power plant is tried and true: Suzuki’s long-running 652cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine.

This reliable workhorse makes a spirited 73.4 horsepower and 47 ft-lbs of torque, numbers that travel well from the street to the twisties to wide-open highways.

From old to new, Suzuki amps up the appeal with rider-friendly modern electronics, including a ride-by-wire throttle, ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter, hill-start assist, three power modes and three traction control modes.

All this tech and more can be clearly accessed through a 4.2-inch color TFT display complete with smartphone connectivity and USB device charging.

Contributing to the athletic performance is a steel trellis frame outfit with a 41mm front fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock.

The bike also features refined aerodynamics and grippy Pirelli Angel GT II sport-touring rubber wrapping stylish cast aluminum wheels, letting you lean into turns without fear.

Supporting the touring side of the equation are handguards, a three-position adjustable windscreen and full LED lighting, ensuring you can see and be seen at all hours.

Boosting comfort over the long haul is a seat featuring a contoured, pressure-reducing shape and thicker padding than the beloved SV650: 10mm more for riders and 20mm for passengers.

The bike also offers an expansive rear carrier with molded hooks for tying down gear and the option to add a 45L top case and side cases that expand from 15L to 20L, for a total of 85 liters of onboard storage.

As loaded as all these features might make the SV-7GX, it remains surprisingly approachable, thanks to a relatively nimble curb weight of 465 pounds and a seat height of 31.3 inches.

Availability and pricing

The 2027 Suzuki SV-7GX is set to hit UK dealerships this summer at a starting price of £6,999, roughly $9,548 USD. Based on existing patterns, I expect a US release later this year.
