Rolex’s entry-level watch, the Oyster Perpetual 28, starts at $5,800. Divide that by half, and you get $2,900. Believe it or not, that might still be several hundred dollars more expensive than Zeno’s upcoming Emara ADV electric off-road motorcycle.

While that might make this bike sound dangerously close to the bargain bin, it’s actually a surprisingly capable, tech-forward two-wheeler, and the brand’s existing commuter bike backs up its potential big time.

A different kind of Indian

Zeno is an Indian startup that’s been making waves with its incredibly affordable Emara electric commuter motorcycle. However, the brand isn’t exactly new to the EV scene.

Michael Spencer, a four-year senior management veteran from Tesla, founded it. Alongside former Apple TV engineer Rob Newberry, former Lucid powertrain engineer Swaroop Bhushan, and engineers from Gogoro, Tesla and others, the team is trying to do what Tesla did in the USA for other emerging EV markets.

Like its predecessor, the Emara ADV could be a serious game-changer.

As such, the Emara is incredibly affordable, coming in at about $1,300 USD brand-spanking-new. The Emara ADV, as you might expect, is based on that same bike, albeit with some off-road-friendly upgrades.

However, much of what makes the Emara such a remarkable entry in the EV market — like its blend of affordability and a rich array of features — remains in the ADV, which is a very good thing. Like its predecessor, the Emara ADV could be a serious game-changer.

Going the distance

Obviously, price isn’t everything. The bike also has to be capable of delivering from a performance standpoint. While the bike is still in the early production stages, it does look very promising.

For instance, the all-electric powertrain is reportedly capable of 13.4 horsepower, good for a top speed of 62 mph, and a range of over 60 miles per charge. However, it also has hot-swappable batteries and available onboard battery storage, extending that range to up to over 120 miles.

The bike also has an onboard touchscreen cockpit with integrated navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and multiple USB ports to help you stay connected and prevent getting lost (unless you want to get lost, in which case you can turn navigation off).

It also gets a beefier suspension with inverted forks, knobby off-road tires, an upgraded headlight, available storage racks, additional shielding and more. Honestly, it’s a lot of bike for what will likely be a very small investment.

Pricing and availability

For now, the Zeno Emara ADV electric motorcycle is still in the early stages of production, meaning pricing and availability have yet to be announced. That said, the bike is based on the already-launched Zeno Emara commuter bike, which is priced at around $1,300 USD. As such, interested parties should expect to pay no more than $2,000 for the ADV.

That said, there’s one catch: the bike is not yet slated for a release in the USA. Still, with enough interest, there’s no telling what the future holds.
