Rep Your Favorite National Park with a Printed Tee

The Landmark Project is paying tribute to the National Parks Service with high-quality and stylish printed t-shirts.

In 1934, ten commemorative stamps featuring monochromatic images of sites like Old Faithful, Yosemite Valley and the Acadia Seashore were released in order to commemorate the reorganization and expansion of the United States National Park Service. It was not the first time the nation’s public lands were enshrined in pigment, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last: between 1938 and 1941 the Work Projects Administration printed the iconic serigraph posters still reproduced today and in 1941 the Department of Interior contracted photographer Ansel Adams to enshrine the parks through his camera lens.

That tradition lives on thanks to brands like The Landmark Project. Consisting of a team of adventure-seeking designers and printers, The Landmark Project produces a line of t-shirts with contemporary designs that hearken back to the style of the WPA posters. Each image begins with an adventure, a story, and time in the field shooting photographs and drawing in a sketchbook. Once a final design is selected, it’s carefully printed on high-quality garments. A small part of the sale of every tee is donated to efforts that bring at-risk youth into the wilderness, which brings everything back full-circle to where it began: adventure.
