Rumpl makes some of the best camping blankets available. The brand has figured out precisely what hikers, climbers and adventure-seekers want in a blanket for the backcountry: lightweight, compact and water-repellant. The brand has done notable partnerships with unique designers and makers such as the Vanish-collab and Iron & Resin-collab. Its most recent collaboration, called the Puffy Down Blanket – Jeremy Collins, showcases artwork by Jeremy Collins, founder of Meridian Line and author of Drawn: The Art of Ascent. The Puffy Down Blanket is the first of three in an artist series cheekily known as the BLANK[ET] Canvas line, available in their premium puffy down blanket. To complete this series, Rumpl looked for artists who use diverse mediums (like Collins’s ink drawing) to document their discoveries.
Collins’s blanket features a drawing of Mt. Whitney, a mountain that has always fascinated him and which he’s already summited twice. On his most recent trip, a large and unusually shaped rock, known as the Shark’s Fin, in front of Mt. Whitney caught his eye. The contrast of the rock in front of the tallest mountain in the continental U.S. sparked inspiration, and Collins sat down to draw. And, viola, the art for the Puffy Down Blanket was born.
