Can a Pair of Goggles Improve Your Swim Performance?

These smart goggles will track your every lap, and lots more.

Form-Goggles-Gear-Patrol-Lead-Full

Growing up, I was a swimmer who spent five-plus days in a pool for over ten years of my life, continually checking the pace clock after every lap. The one thing that never changed was the pair of goggles I wore for that entire time. Yes, I upgraded to a new color every few years, but once you have a goggle that works for you, it’s rare you move away from them. However, I might be tempted to try Form’s Swim Goggles. The smart goggles will soon change the need for swimmers even to bother lifting their head to check the time thanks to a smart display built into them. Along the right side of the goggles, there’s a small box that looks just like an old-school Bluetooth earpiece. It extends slightly over the right eye, but not enough to block your field of vision, and through that, you can monitor your intervals, rest time, stroke rate and count, pace per 50 or 100 and calories burned — all of which were previously only accessible through a wrist tracker or a pricey coach.

Other than the small Bluetooth clip on the right side, these look like regular goggles. There are a variety of nose bridges to pick from, so the lenses aren’t squeezing your nose, and the typical silicone straps so you can find the right fit for your head. One significant difference from regular goggles is the need for a charge. Once done, they should last for 16 hours. Pair them with your phone via the corresponding app and then get swimming.
