It’d be fair to say that the Adizero Evo SL ran away with it last year.

Nimble, versatile, lightweight, handsome and surprisingly affordable, the shoe put Adidas’s high-end Lightstrike Pro foam on the feet of countless road runners since its launch in late 2024.

Can it do the same for trail chasers?

When the trail’s gone cold

Now available in the US after an initial rollout overseas, the Adizero Evo SL ATR is an all-terrain version of the fan-favorite trainer, complete with a number of subtle updates that make it suitable for light trails and wet winter roads.

Starting from the bottom, Adidas covered more of the outsole with durable Continental rubber, not to mention 1.5mm lugs for added traction on dirt and gravel without limiting the shoe’s prowess off them.

The Adizero Evo SL ATR also features a wraparound mudguard, reinforced toebox and new upper crafted from an abrasion-resistant ripstop material.

While there’s no mention of Gore-Tex or any water-resistant lining on the product page, Adidas did add sawtooth laces that promise a more secure fit mid-stride, especially long into a run.

Thankfully, one thing that didn’t change: the same lightweight, highly responsive foam midsole that made the original Adizero Evo SL the shoe to beat on the roads.

Don’t worry: the shoe features the same Lightstrike Pro foam that made the original Adizero Evo SL an instant classic.
