Buck Gives Its Most Important Knife Ever a Slender, Stunning, Never-Before-Seen Makeover

You might not believe it at first glance, but this gentleman’s EDC blade is, in fact, a version of the 110 Folding Hunter.

The Buck 110 Folding Hunter could be the single most iconic pocket knife of all time. And while it dates back to 1964, it’s still relevant today — relevant enough, in fact, that it just recently appeared in Amazon Prime’s Fallout series.

But the brand’s most recent take, the Buck 110 Slim 2026 We Are Knifemakers Andrew Avoux, is such a wild reinterpretation, you might not even recognize it as a 110 at all. And yet, it still has the spirit of its precursors.

The Buck stops here

At first glance, this might look like a completely new silhouette. But the truth is, it’s the same killer knife the brand has been producing since the ’60s … sort of.

The overall shape is the same. It retains its gently curved handle and blade (although this one is a drop point, and the original was a clip; there has been a drop-point option for some years now).

This take is also somewhat smaller. While the original boasted a 3.75-inch blade, this one — the Slim (again, an existing variant) — has a slightly smaller blade measuring 3.3 inches. It’s also lighter overall, weighing 3.3 ounces instead of the normal 7.2 ounces.

Of course, along with the fact that this is a slender, smaller version, it also comes down to some material swaps…

The classic drop-point blade is still made from 420HC steel, but it is more minimalist, lacking a nail nick.

Minimalist masterpiece

The classic 110 Folding Hunter and the 110 Slim typically come with brass bolsters and ebony wood handle scales. This new version, however, completely eschews both in favor of a much more minimalist, polished aluminum. There are no bolsters, and there’s no break in the material.

In fact, there’s not even any visible hardware on either side of the handle. The only mechanism that remains is the classic back lock, which is a welcome device for lovers of the original. And not that the original has one, but it’s worth noting that there isn’t a pocket clip, either.

While the blade shares the same mirror finish as the handle, it’s a bit closer to the classic variations in terms of material. Crafted from 410HC, the same steel this knife has employed for decades, it’s as reliable and easy to care for as they come.

Designed in collaboration with the brand’s own Andrew Avoux, one of the brand’s own Custom Knife Shop employees, there’s just one minor catch: only 30 examples of this knife were built. And that makes them a very rare commodity.

Notably, the knife has no pocket clip, as the brand favored extreme minimalism in its design.
