Hoka’s New All-Terrain Boot Brings Vintage Vibes to a Fan-Favorite Hiker

On specs alone, the Kaha 3 GTX is every bit a modern hiker, complete with a waterproof liner, Vibram Megagrip outsole and dual-density midsole.

But you might not notice those details on first glance.

The latest variant of the fan-favorite boot hides its technical attributes well, thanks to a burnished makeover by way of Hoka’s Elite Terrain System Collection.

The city-to-trail series sees the Kaha 3 GTX take on hairy-suede accents alongside its nubuck leather upper, as well as a traditional khaki colorway that calls to mind footwear from yesteryear.

It’s not the first variant of the Kaha 3 to go retro.

Late last year, Hoka debuted a “Grey Skies” colorway of the boot that even featured a distressed midsole, mimicking the kind of wear that comes from many miles on the trail.

However, the light-brown hue of the latest Kaha 3 GTX will appeal to purists who prefer to earn their patina, without abandoning the vintage vibes.

Availability and pricing

The khaki colorway of the Elite Terrain System Kaha 3 GTX is available now for $240.

It joins Hoka’s catalog alongside two other colors, black and “Galactic Grey.”
