Tactical, military-inspired renditions of the most popular sneakers available continue to dominate the footwear zeitgeist, but you’d be forgiven for missing Hoka’s latest entry into the category.

That’s due to the low-profile presence, built right into the capsule’s name: the fitness behemoth’s new Stealth Tech Collection reimagines a curated selection of the brand’s most popular shoes, including the darkly dazzling new Stealth/Tech Speedgoat 2.

Capable on the trails, stealthy in the streets

The Stealth Tech Collection, which includes three brand stalwarts (the Bondi 7, Mafate Speed 2 and Speedgoat 2), sees the Speedgoat 2 rebuilt with a minimalist yet dynamic new monochromatic look.

Although it has a brand-new look, the shoe retains its capable features, including its trail-ready Vibram outsole.

This is achieved by scaling back the shoe’s typically bold approach to color. The Varsity Navy/Black version features a two-color metallic mesh upper overlaid with a reflective midfoot support cage that subtly shines after dark.

Original laser-etched graphics, mono-mesh reflective stitch webbing and the matte, rubberized vamp (toe box area) and accents give the traditional trail shoe a city-ready look that’s hard to ignore once it catches your eye.

The Stealth/Tech Speedgoat 2 is also available in a Black/Stardust colorway, which highlights the contrast between the overlays and upper and gives off a hyper-futuristic aesthetic, but it’s the sleek Varsity Navy/Black version that really allows the under-the-radar take on the classic shoe to shine.

Availability and pricing

The Stealth/Tech Speedgoat 2 is available now on Hoka’s website, retailing for $160.
