This Stunning EDC Knife Was Already Kansept’s Best. It Just Got Two Stellar Upgrades

The ferocious Fenrir becomes even more tempting courtesy of a new premium lock and mesmerizing high-end handle treatment.

Founded by industry vet Kim NG in China’s knife capital of Yangjiang, Kansept Knives has rolled out a breathtaking array of blades in just five years of existence.

Though I’ve been impressed by several offerings from the brand and its more affordable little bro, Tenable, none stand out more than the one named after Nordic mythology’s most badass wolf.

Kansept knows it, as between the two labels, literally dozens of variants of the Fenrir are currently available.

Still, with notable upgrades to the lock and handle, the new Fenrir Frame Lock just might be the finest in all the land.

Two cuts above

The less immediately noticeable but more “street credible” upgrade here is the introduction of a frame lock.

This particular mechanism, integrated into the frame, is the premium alternative to the more common liner lock.

Pairing its natural rebound characteristics with the blade’s grippy thumb studs enables smooth and snappy single-handed deployment.

Granted, retracting the blade takes more skill than it does with the crossbar and button locks available on other Fenrir variants, but for EDC enthusiasts, the purity of the mechanism outweighs petty convenience.

The other big distinguishing feature of the new knife concerns its ergonomic handle, as all five versions boast “Micro-Milled Water Ripple Texture” technology.

The unique texture improves grip, preventing slippage with wet or be-gloved hands, while rounded and chamfered edges boost comfort.

If it ain’t broke…

Thankfully, these two new elements do not at all interfere with all that makes the Greg Schob design so awesome to begin with.

Most significant is the business end, an incredibly distinctive 3.48-inch harpoon-style blade — available in either premium CPM-S35VN or mesmerizing Damascus steel.

Function matches form, as the full, curved belly enables precise and even cuts while backing up the tip for reliable piercing without wobble.

In addition to the aforementioned thumb studs, the blade also features a ridge front flipper as an additional deployment method.

The handle material is equally notable, as that rippling pattern emerges from the anodized titanium in a range of compelling colors.

Rounding things out is a sturdy pocket clip, helping you keep this 4.42-ounce beast secure in your pocket until the call of the wild — or an apple in need of slicing — beckons it into use.
