While the brand is beloved and massive enough to rest on its laurels, Patagonia is not one to give up and give in. Every year, the outdoor manufacturer takes numerous products — even among its best releases (like the R1 Air fleece) — back to the drawing board to improve them further.

The Patagonia Nano Puff jacket (as well as vest and hoody) is one such product. While the garment could likely remain among the best puffers in the world forever, even without any changes, that wouldn’t be Pagonia’s style. To that end, the brand has improved it in several ways for 2025.

The changes to this latest edition might seem small, but they make a big impact.

Puff the magic jacket

Let’s start with all the good stuff that remains. Buckle up, because there’s a lot of it.

The jacket retains its overall silhouette and form factor. That also means it’s still incredibly lightweight (only 13 ounces total) and packable, making it perfect for travel of all types.

There are numerous changes that, while subtle, make a big impact.

It also maintains its 100-percent polyester ripstop fabric exterior with its DWR finish, so it’s still highly weatherproof and abrasion-resistant. Furthermore, it retains its signature quilted pattern to ensure the insulation doesn’t shift or bunch, maintaining warmth and breathability throughout.

Plus, it’s insulated with 100-percent recycled P.U.R.E. (Produced Using Reduced Emissions) tech 60-g PrimaLoft Gold Insulation.

The fabrics and insulation are also Bluesign certified, contain no intentionally added PFAS (forever chemicals) and the whole garment is Fair Trade Certified.

Nano changes, mega impact

Sure, that seems like most of the jacket is completely the same as previous years, right? Well, yeah; it was already pretty damn great. But there are numerous changes that, while subtle, make a big impact.

For instance, while the quilted pattern remains, the jacket’s stitching has been improved to increase abrasion resistance, adding even more durability to every facet.

The cuffs have been swapped for ripstop nylon ones — another boost to durability — and the collar is a bit taller for added warmth and coziness when you need it.

Perhaps most significantly, the shoulders have been lengthened, granting the jacket’s interior a bit more room. Not only does this mean you, the wearer, will be more comfortable, but it also increases your potential range of motion.

See? Small changes can make a big difference. This edit to the Nano Puff might be incremental, but an improvement is an improvement, no matter how small.

Three quilted jackets in different colors: olive green, brown, and bright red. Each jacket has a high collar, a front zipper, and a small rectangular logo patch on the left chest. The jackets have a grid-like stitching pattern and long sleeves.
As has often been the case, the Nano Puff jacket comes in numerous vibrant, unique colorways.
