Every successful brand has its own unique journey, with progress often coming in fits and starts along the way.

Still, almost no one gets over the hump without some early shooting star product that creates momentum for sustained growth.

Four folding knives with different handle designs, including copper, gray, and blue-purple patterned handles, displayed on black CRB boxes on a wooden surface.
The new Feldspar comes in four different variants, which differ not only in looks but in locking mechanism.

When it comes to CJRB, the more affordable sub-label of Artisan Cutlery, that product is the original Feldspar.

Introduced in 2019, the standout design balanced durability, versatility and comfort to put the brand on the map and set the stage for big things to come.

Now, as CJRB takes its next major step forward, it’s giving the Feldspar the most innovative, multi-faceted makeover one could imagine.

Poppin’ locks

From an innovation standpoint, the standout element regards the locking mechanism.

The four new variants of the Feldspar (more on those later) boast two CJRB debutantes: the brand’s first top-liner locks and the first top-frame locks.

From the outside, the top liner lock (top) and top frame lock (bottom) are pretty indistinguishable.

These mechanisms are already known for being quite smooth and satisfying to operate, but these designs really lean into those superlatives.

With the top-liner locks, the pass-through button eases access to the liner, ensuring both a sturdy lockup and swift deployment.

As the locks are functionally similar, you should get a super smooth and snappy response with all four knives.

Meanwhile, the top-frame locks integrate the entire mechanism into the frame to take that security and durability to another level.

With both mechanisms, the brand’s classic ceramic ball-bearing pivot makes for slick one-handed operation, adding to utility and joy.

Not one, not two, not three…

As it has with a number of other knives in the past, CJRB is launching the new Feldspar on the Kickstarter platform, with four different variants offering unique qualities and price points. Let’s take a quick look at each one.

Vintage Copper Feldspar ($139 early bird)

Even the most affordable of the bunch is still a stunner, thanks to a 3.53-inch drop-point blade draped in a black PVD coating and made of S90V super steel.

The handle is made of copper, which nicely patinas over time, while the hardware and titanium clip are as blacked-out as the blade.

This knife has a top liner lock and a weight of 6 ounces.

Contoured Titanium Feldspar ($199 early bird)

The next step up also features an S90V blade (stone-washed this time) and a top liner lock, but it has one major material difference.

The handle scales are milled from solid pieces of titanium, with gentle contouring and a fine micromilling texture that improves grip.

The handle swap not only changes the look, but it also sheds major weight, as this knife comes in at 4.3 ounces.

Titanium Damascus ($462 super early bird)

While the next two knives offer a blade of the same size, shape and S90V steel, much else is quite distinct from the first two.

With this particular model, the blade is sand-polished, and the two handle scales are made of titanium inlaid with shimmering Titanium Damascus, notching up the looks with minimal impact on the overall weight (4.5 ounces).

The hidden difference might be even bigger, as it features a top frame lock, building the innovative locking mechanism right into the frame for supreme smoothness and security.

Titanium Damascus Deluxe ($649 super early bird)

Taking things up one more notch is this top-tier offering, which in many ways resembles the preceding one, part of why it has the same 4.5-ounce weight.

The big point of distinction is a fully hand-polished S90V blade with a glorious mirror finish. According to CJRB, it’s not just for looks but also “ensures the absolute smoothest action possible with almost frictionless opening action.”

Up to you whether to shell out the extra $187 to see just how smooth that action really is.

Pricing and availability

The new CJRB Feldspar is available on Kickstarter now with early bird prices starting at $139. Estimated delivery is February 2026.
