Tracksmith’s first-ever max-cushioned trainer looks awesome. That’s precisely the point.

“Tracksmith is a challenger,” the Boston brand states on its website. “Without the size or scale most brands enjoy, we rely on our ingenuity. We are small, so we need to be nimbler, quicker and craftier.”

Nowhere is this ethos better exemplified than with the upcoming Eliot Ryder, Tracksmith’s next foray into footwear coming in 2026.

All cushion, no baggage

The shoe features a 45mm stack height, the most across its lineup, which also includes the Eliot Runner, Racer and trail-leaning Range.

As such, it comfortably slots into the max-cushioned category dominated by brands like Hoka and, recently, Nike with the revamped Vomero lineup.

Only you wouldn’t know it on looks alone.

Thanks to an innovative drop-in midsole, the Eliot Ryder maintains a sleek profile despite its 45mm stack height.

Similar to the Racer and Range, the Eliot Ryder features an innovative drop-in midsole that effectively hides part of its platform inside the shoe, rather than on the bottom.

The result, the brand says, is “true long-run protection” without the “aesthetic baggage” you’d find on other options that so often leave looks in the rear-view mirror.

But a streamlined aesthetic is far from the shoe’s only draw, as is the case with other drop-in designs, such as On’s Cloudboom Strike.

According to the brand, the technology also lowers the wearer’s center of gravity, resulting in a more stable shoe overall.

That fact is also supported by Tracksmith’s choice of ATPU, a burgeoning foam within the industry, which simultaneously helps to keep the weight in check.

The listed weight is 9.5 ounces, making the Eliot Ryder lighter than much of the competition.

The listed weight of the Eliot Ryder is 9.5 ounces — far below that of comparable options from all the big players.

The Hoka Bondi, for example, clocks in at 10.5 ounces, while the new Nike Vomero Premium weighs 12.4 ounces.

Availability and pricing

Unveiled at The Running Event, the Eliot Ryder will be available from “spring 2026,” Tracksmith says.

The brand has yet to disclose pricing, however, it’s not known for affordability. The Eliot Runner, currently its cheapest option, starts at $198.
