If you’ve not yet heard of Vero Engineering, it’s high time to get the cult-favorite, award-winning brand’s name on your tongue. This outfit makes some of the best minimalist EDC knives and tools on the market at the moment.

And the proof is in their sales: the brand’s gear sells out incredibly fast whenever it drops.

That’s what makes the return of the brand’s beloved Vero Nova so special. If you, like me, fawn over magnificently executed minimalist EDC knives, this is a rare opportunity.

Three folding knives with different blade finishes: plain silver, matte black, and patterned Damascus steel, all with silver handles.
It wouldn’t be too bold to call the Vero Nova, in all its variations, a minimalist masterpiece.

Everything you need, nothing you don’t

So, what makes the Nova special? For starters, it’s the first Vero Engineering knife to feature “a large bellied, 3.65″ drop point M390 steel blade.”

That alone is noteworthy, as this Böhler-made steel is an outstanding high-performance material that stands among the best super steels on the market today. Some people have even called it “grail” steel, and I wouldn’t necessarily argue with that.

It offers an exceptional balance of corrosion resistance, extreme edge retention and rock-solid hardness. And yet it’s also relatively easy to care for.

The blade shape is also remarkably versatile, making it suitable for both precision cuts and larger jobs alike.

While four of the five available versions of the knife come with M390, there’s also a special edition with eye-catching Damasteel.

Maximal minimalism

The other side of the knife, the handle, is definitely no slouch, either.

On all five editions, it’s crafted from solid titanium, although there are different finishes (especially the blacked-out version).

It also features minimal hardware, offering an extremely clean appearance, while still offering solid ergonomics.

This knife is also quite slender, making it easy to add to even crowded pockets.

As far as locks go, this one is about as classic and robust as they come: it gets an integrated frame lock. And opposite that, there’s a deep-carry pocket clip for easy, discreet hauling.

The whole knife measures 8.29 inches, with a 3.65-inch blade. And it weighs 5.7 ounces.
