This Blacked-Out Seiko Was Made for the Japanese Market

New York menswear brand Freemans Sporting Club collaborated with Seiko on a new blacked-out dive watch available in very limited quantities stateside. Designed with Lowercase creative director Yoshikage Kajiwara, the watch is based on the first Seiko dive watch released in 1975.

The 42.7mm black ion-plated stainless steel case houses Seiko’s Japanese solar movement. The watch has LumiBrite hands and markers, a 4 o’clock date window and a rotating bezel. Water resistant up to 200 meters, this diver comes with a sporty reinforced silicon band.

Those familiar with Seiko’s latest Prospex Street Series will see a striking similarity. And while the watches are aesthetically very similar, the Freemans Sporting Club collab has a case that is over 6mm smaller (and a price tag that is $150 greater).

Each of the FSC x Seiko watches have individually numbered case backs. Due to the limited nature of the release, each customer is allowed only one watch (serial numbers are random and all sales are final). This is a sporty everyday watch you won’t see on many other people’s wrists and is definitely worth checking out — it won’t be available for long.
