Adidas’s Fresh Take on an Iconic Sneaker May Be Its Best-Looking Version Yet

For a flat-soled, slim shoe, this new treatment of the iconic Gazelle silhouette features quite a bit of depth.

The Gazelle is undoubtedly one of the most iconic styles to come from Adidas in the global sportswear brand’s 76-year history, right up there with the Samba.

For such a notable silhouette, it takes a lot to make it stand out from the crowd (and its own history).

Despite being brighter than the initial 2024 collaboration sneaker between the estate of Bob Marley and Adidas, the 2026 still manages to maintain restrained style.

That’s why the latest version of the slim sneaker is so noteworthy: the new Bob Marley x Adidas Collection pays homage to the reggae legend’s love of football and makes a standout sneaker even more memorable in the process.

A storied shoe, remixed

The Gazelle was introduced in 1966, and in the decades since, it has become one of the most well-known and beloved training and lifestyle shoes on the market.

The new Gazelle Jamaica x Bob Marley Shoes, designed to honor the legacy of the reggae artist and his enduring love of (non-American) football, are built upon the 1991 version of the shoe, which featured its classic premium suede upper and molded tongue.

This isn’t the first time Adidas has released a Bob Marley collection; in 2024, the global athletic brand partnered with the late artist’s estate, releasing a special edition of the Adidas Originals SL 72 sneaker.

While 2024’s special edition style was more restrained in its approach to color, this year’s sneaker leans into the vibrant colors of Jamaican culture.

“Football is freedom”

The new year sees the revival of that partnership via the Gazelle, whose aesthetic is a more vivid tribute to Marley than the previous special edition shoe.

This time, the Gazelle is dressed in a Jamaican/Rastafarian combo of red, green, yellow and black on the leather upper.

Minimal yet impactful branding pointing toward the collaboration can be found across the shoe.

First, there’s the subtle “Bob” that replaces the Gazelle nameplate on the sidewall of the shoe, which in and of itself gives this shoe a brand-new identity.

Then, there’s the embossed patch on the heel that features Bob Marley’s autograph and likeness along with the phrase “Football Is Freedom,” his personal take on the power of the sport.

Alongside the retro feel and special-edition details of the shoe, classic components including the grippy rubber outsole remain.

Availability and pricing

The Gazelle Jamaica x Bob Marley Shoes, which retail for $110, are still available on Adidas’s website. Given the popularity of the shoe and the excitement around the launch, sizes may get snapped up quickly.
