Filson’s most approachable field coat just got the full denim treatment — and suddenly it looks a lot like a more premium challenger to Levi’s long-standing dominance in the American-made jean jacket game.
Filson has taken the pattern from its Canvas Outfitter Jacket — a straightforward, wrist-length barn coat with combination hand and cargo pockets and a corduroy-lined collar — and rebuilt it in 11-ounce denim.
The result is the new 11-oz. Denim Outfitter Jacket, which, while cut differently from the traditional trucker, still offers much of the same style appeal with arguably more usful features.
Denim meets field coat DNA

Unlike Filson’s heavier, lined denim cruisers, which lean into stiff 14.5-ounce fabrics and cold-weather duty, this jacket is unlined and cut from a tighter, midweight weave that’s meant to break in rather than beat you up.
It pairs the familiar shorthand of a light-indigo jean jacket with honest workwear details — metal shank buttons, chore-style pocketing, and that signature corduroy collar — making it feel equally at home over a flannel, a hoodie, or just a T-shirt.

The field-coat-derived pocket layout, which includes hand-warmer pockets layered over lower cargo pockets, also gives it real carrying capacity rather than just two chest pockets and vibes.
