A leather jacket is one of the most versatile and timeless garments you can own; it’s an enduring style staple with no signs of fading. But few carry the history or pedigree of the Menlo Cossack “Einstein” Jacket, famously worn and loved by Albert Einstein.

In 2016, Levi Strauss & Co. purchased Einstein’s original jacket at a Christie’s auction. He had acquired it in the 1930s after immigrating to the United States, and it became one of his most recognizable garments. Since then, Levi’s has released several faithful, limited-edition reproductions of the Menlo Cossack, each one coveted by collectors.

If you’ve missed out on past releases, you’re in luck: Levi’s Vintage Clothing has just announced a new limited-edition reproduction of Einstein’s iconic jacket, now available through select online retailers and stores. Here’s what we know.

Handcrafted in Italy by expert artisans, the jacket boasts a rich, full-grain sheep leather featuring a natural grain and patina that will only improve with wear. The sturdy lining and reinforced stitching are designed to thrive over years of use.

The button front closure is complemented by the structured stand collar, which helps give the jacket its recognizable silhouette, as well as two slanted welt pockets, which maintain the sleekness of the jacket and its ergonomic comfort.

Adjustable side tabs on the hem allow for a dialed-in fit, while buttoned adjustment tabs at the cuffs echo the original construction. The slim fit, heritage detailing and superior durability make this a classic that is as appealing in 2025 as it was almost one hundred years ago.
