New Balance is to dad shoes as Carhartt is to workwear.

The 120-year old athletic brand has a wide selection of dad-coded styles, but chief among them has to be the Made in USA 992 Core.

Released in 2006, the shoe is an icon in its own right … and for that reason, continuously sells through its restocks.

But guess what? New Balance quietly restocked the highly prized silhouette, and it’s currently available in almost all sizes.

Step it up

Twenty years ago, New Balance introduced the Made in USA 992 Core, and the shoe quickly became an object of desire for sneakerheads everywhere. Steve Jobs even made the chunky, approachable style part of his infamous everyday uniform.

The dad shoe of all dad shoes had an initial four-year run (2006-2010) before being discontinued.

The year 2020 saw the triumphant return of the Made in USA 992 Core, and for the next few years, the shoe was hard to find.

A return to market in 2025 reignited the fervor around the style, and subsequent restocks have all sold through.

The last time the shoe got restocked was October 2025, but it looks like New Balance wants to start 2026 off on the right foot, because at the time of this writing, all three colorways of the iconic style are fully stocked on NB’s official website.
