Canadian-based bootmaker Viberg just released the unique Wholecut Boot in black washed Italian horsehide. The style is cut from a single piece of leather, stitched together along the heel and reinforced with a small leather tab. Because of the lack of seams in the upper, this boot is surprisingly comfortable from the first wear and showcases the distinct character of the horsehide. Also, the brand opted for blind eyelets in the model as to not take away from the already smooth profile.

Many wholecut styles are pigeonholed as dress boots, but Viberg’s take on the lace-up design is refreshingly casual. The sleek silhouette, lined with kip, is balanced by a sturdy leather sole and stacked-leather dovetail heel. Additionally, the channeled insole and Goodyear welt construction mean this boot can be rebuilt after years of wear.

Available exclusively on Vibergs site, the Wholecut Boot comes in half-sizes from 6 to 12. Retailing for $710, it ships with alternate laces, dust bags, a polishing cloth and a bottle of Venetian Cream. While definitely an investment boot, this style is exceptional and the build is hard to beat.
