Iomega's eGo Line Gets the USB 3.0 Treatment

Riding the wave in on the next evolution in external storage, the updated Iomega eGo Drives ($77-200) to be compatible with USB 3.0. Sure, they may look virtually identical from the previous gen, but noteworthy change revolve around new protection and security integration. First off, Iomega claims to have the best drop spec in the industry and says the eGo’s new Drop Guard feature will protect a drive from drops as high as 1.3 meters (4.2 feet). For enhanced data security, the drives use QuickProtect data encryption software and McAfee VirusScan. EMC’s Retrospect Express software for local backup, as is cloud based backup by MozyHome Online (if you’re willing to subscribe). PC owners can purchase an eGo in Ruby, Blue, and Silver colors in capacities of 320GB ($80), 500GB ($115) and 1TB ($200). Mac users can snag the eGo BlackBelt Mac Edition which supports Firewire 400/800 and a features a physical bumper Drop Guard. The speed and protection updates come with just a $20 premium the previous generation.
