Before working from home was the new normal, I had my two-screen setup at the office, but relied on my laptop elsewhere. Now, after a few months, I've slotted an LG UltraFine 4K into my workstation and it's been such a huge relief.
As a video editor, two screens are basically a must. Being able to keep my editing timeline and source window on one monitor and my footage bins on the other is great for organization. Not to mention the UltraFine 4K's image quality is awesome with a P3 wide color gamut, and 500 nits of brightness.
A second monitor is also hugely underrated for video chat, which I find myself doing now more than ever. It's so great to look at notes or source material on one monitor while still being able see and interact with my colleagues on the other.
One more surprisingly great feature is the way it doubles as a USB hub. Its three USB-C and two Thunderbolt 3 ports have made working with external hard drives a breeze. Better yet, the UltraFine 4k is specifically compatible with Macs, so I can attach the monitor to my MacBook with the included Thunderbolt 3 cable and even control brightness and the monitor's speaker volume from my laptop.
So if you've been putting off picking up a dedicated second monitor for your home office -- or telling yourself you can live without it -- I have to urge you to reconsider. Whatever screen you grab, from the UltraFine 4k to something much more basic, that extra screen real-estate will truly go a long way.
