Samsung bought Harman International — and thus, it also bought JBL, Harman Kardon, Infinity and AKG — back in March 2017 and today we’re seeing the first major product to come out of that acquisition. The HW-N950 soundbar is a co-branded Samsung and Harman Kardon soundbar, meaning it’ll have both company’s logos on it. More importantly, it’s the most advanced high-end soundbar system that Samsung has ever made. It’s a 7.1.4 system, which is the largest number of channels currently available in a soundbar, and it comes with two wireless surround sound speakers, a wireless subwoofer and a rear wireless speaker kit that, according to Samsung, rounds out the premium audio experience. Just as importantly, the soundbar supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound technologies, so you’ll get one of the most immersive home theater experience that’s available today.

The HW-N950 soundbar will be available for pre-order on B&H Audio for $1,698, and it’s expected to ship in early September. Samsung and Harmon Kardan also collaborated on a second smaller soundbar, the HW-N850, which is available for pre-order on B&H Audio for $1,198. It’s a 5.1.2 channel system that also supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound technologies. Both the HW-N950 and the HW-N850 have a number of other features that you’d expect in a high-end soundbar, including Bluetooth and wi-fi high-res audio streaming, 4K pass-through and ARC support.
