The recent pandemic is forcing theaters across the country to close up shop. This has caused all sorts of issues for the film industry. The theatrical releases of numerous big-time movies are getting postponed and indefinitely pushed back, such as the latest James Bond flick No Time to Die, Marvel’sBlack Widow, Disney’s live adaptation of Mulan. Also, many of the movies that are supposed to be in theaters right now are becoming available for rent way ahead of time — including as early as this weekend. Of course, iTunes and other on-demand services have made movies rentable that were still in theaters for a long time, but they’ve mostly been indie and lesser-hyped films. Now the “big films” are streamable earlier than ever, too.
Birds Of Prey
This film starring Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn hit theaters at the end of February, but obviously its theaterical run was cut short due to the current pandemic. It’s available to buy right now on iTunes, Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services.

The Gentlemen
The Gentlemen hit theaters at the end of January and was supposed to hit digital streaming services on April 13, but that’s been bumped up due to the current situation — it’s availble to buy right now (it’ll be available to rent later in April). The gangster film is directed by Guy Richie and stars Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding and Hugh Grant.

The Invisible Man
The phycological thriller starring Elizabeth Moss hit theaters on February 28 and it currently holds an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Your can buy it on iTunes or Prime Video right now for $20.

The Hunt is a R-rated satirical thriller that hit theaters just a little over a week ago, on March 13, but because of the current situation it’s been made available on-demand as of March 20th for $20.

Onward
Onward, the Pixar movie starring Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, hit theaters on March 6. You can buy and watch it at home as of March 20 for $20. However, if you can wait, its Disney+ release date has been pushed up as well; subscribers will be able to stream it on April 3.

Emma
Emma is a comedy and period piece, and film adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, that stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Bill Nighy. It recently hit theaters on February 21, almost exactly a month ago, but it’s already available to rent.

Bloodshot
The acton flick starring Vin Diesel didn’t really stand a chance in theaters. It hit theaters less than two weeks ago, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s coming to streaming services way ahead of time. It was made available to rent on Monday, March 24.
