While Seiko is practically synonymous with affordable mechanical dive watches, its corporate cousin Orient has its fair share of captivating divers at similarly accessible prices. Its entry-level Mako is a fantastic starter watch, while its boldly designed M-Force Bravo is a charming and tough summer beater. Adding to that lineup is the brand new Triton, 200-meter diver with a $655 price tag that packs one of the brand’s Japanese-made automatic movements.
According to an Orient spokesperson, the Triton will essentially be replacing the aforementioned M-Force. While we’re sad to see that watch bow out, the Triton takes a lot of what made the M-Force great but puts it in a more refined package. For starters, at 43.5mm case, it’s much more wearable, and though we loved the bright colors of the M-Force this version tones it down with the choice of either a black or navy blue dial. The Triton also features a power-reserve indicator at two o’clock, a rare complication in its price range, while the arrow-pointed hour hand is a fun callback to the departed M-Force.
