Chronos Japan broke news today that Seiko and Grand Seiko will not participate in next year’s Baselworld, the world’s largest watch trade show where brands from Rolex to NOMOS to Patek Philippe unveil their latest wares.
Speaking to HODINKEE, the Seiko group cited timing issues as the primary reason for the change. Baselworld 2020 will come on the heels of Watches & Wonders, the rebranded SIHH, in early May (previously, SIHH took place in January and Baselworld in March), during which the company will celebrate several consecutive national Japanese holidays. Grand Seiko plans to hold its own Grand Seiko Summit in March 2020, during which it will debut its new models.
