One of the Most Beautiful Watches We’ve Ever Seen Is Back in Stock in an Updated Form

Scottish brand anOrdain sold out the original run of their coveted enamel-dialed Model 1. Now it’s back and better than ever.

Editor’s Note: Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld 2020 are canceled but that hasn’t stopped watch brands large and small from debuting their new wares. To stay on top of this year’s best new watch releases, visit our tag page.

The anOrdain Model 1 is so cool, it almost comes around the other side and becomes distinctly uncool. (Almost.) But then you think about it again, and you’re like, nahhh — this watch is super cool.

Why so cool? Look at that damn dial! Who else besides Seiko is doing a true enamel dial for less than $1,600. And not only an enamel dial, but a really, really good looking one, too. Utilizing a font based on vintage topographic maps of Scotland and available in five colors, we were so impressed with anOrdain’s Model 1 that we subsequently traveled to Glasgow just to tell them as much in person and find out how they do what they do.

Unfortunately, the Model 1 eventually sold out, to be replaced in the Scottish boutique brand’s catalog by the awesome Model 2. However, it seems enough folks out there were nostalgic for the Model 1 (or simply pissed off that they weren’t able to nab one the first time around) that anOrdain to decided to bring it back, albeit in updated form.

Featuring new hands and a redesigned case, the 38mm Model 1 is back for about ~$1,552. Featuring a gorgeous enamel dial in one of five colors, the Sellita SW200 automatic movement and a five-year warranty, this is one of the coolest offerings in all of the “microbrand” space, full stop. Are there more affordable automatic watches out there? Sure. Is there anything this unique or this handsome for this kind of money? Probably not.
