This Automatic Integrated Sports Watch Has No Business Being So Affordable

Skeletonized dials are tricky to pull off. Brands too often design dial architecture that competes with the movement beneath it, creating a tangled mess.

The trick is to follow the lines and curves of the skeletonized movement within the case like a roadmap, creating a cohesive arrangement with a clear view straight through the sapphire caseback. Baillod (stylized as BA111OD) nailed the assignment with the Chapter 7 Skeleton, and a new update strips the design down to its steel bones.

Baillod’s Chapter 7 was already a hidden gem in the overcrowded integrated sports watch market, offering in-house construction and a COSC-certified automatic movement for well under $1,000. But the Chapter 7 Skeleton Anthracite, introduced in 2025, stood out from the crowd with a perfectly executed skeletonized dial and movement.

As the name suggests, it was finished with an anthracite PVD coating covering the entire case, dial, bracelet and movement bridges. The effect was a charcoal monochromatic look, like a watch Batman would wear.

That muted tone is contrasted by the new Chapter 7 Skeleton, which strips away the anthracite for a dazzling metallic shine. According to the brand, it is inspired by the “summer light of Neuchâtel,” the brand’s hometown in the Swiss Alps.

The faceted 40mm stainless steel case is finished with vertical satin brushing across the flat surfaces and mirror polishing along the chamfered edges, including the 10-sided fixed steel bezel.

Seeing through time

Intricate detailing of the dial was slightly obscured by the dark anthracite finish. Now, the sandblasted segments of the chapter ring sparkle in bare steel, and the black printed seconds track is clearly visible along the matte rehaut.

Raised hour markers and docked alpha hour and minute hands are distinguished by white Super-LumiNova inserts, which glow blue in low light.

The curves and lines of the brushed-steel dial framework conform to the skeletonized Soprod Caliber P024-SQ automatic movement below, providing a clear view from above of the complex clockwork within. It beats at 4Hz and provides a modest 38-hour power reserve.

A screw-down exhibition caseback completes the “sapphire sandwich,” allowing the wearer to see straight through the watch.

Sporty or steely?

The Chapter 7 Skeleton is available with the same integrated H-Link tapered stainless steel bracelet as its predecessor. It matches the case with brushed surfaces and polished chamfers.

This update is also available on the fitted rubber strap offered with the standard Chapter 7 collection. It is fastened with a stainless steel deployant clasp and features quick-release pins.

Opting for the Frost Blue rubber strap emphasizes the sporty vibe that Baillod is going for with this watch. With a slim 10.5mm case height and an offset crown at 4:00, the Chapter 7 matches its look with an unencumbered feel on the wrist.

Availability and pricing

Integrated sports watches, following the Royal Oak and Nautilus blueprint, are a dime a dozen these days. But very few offer the impressive specs and detailing of the Chapter 7 Skeleton for under $1,500. As far as pure bang-for-your-buck, this is certainly a class-leader.

The Baillod Chapter 7 Skeleton is available for pre-order now from Baillod for $1,295 on a rubber strap and $1,380 on a steel bracelet. Orders ship out in August 2026.
