If Grand Seiko has had a blind spot, at least as far as fans are concerned, it is dive watches. One of Seiko’s most revered categories has been underserved by its top-tier sub-brand for years.
That changes now with the debut of the Ushio 300 Diver. Perfectly sized at 40mm and powered by one of the most advanced automatic watch movements on the planet, it is the Grand Seiko diver we’ve all been waiting for.
Grand SeikoWatches and Wonders Geneva: Rolex, Grand Seiko and dozens of other heavy hitters gather in Switzerland every year to release their biggest watches. Catch up on all the new novelties.
The Ushio, which means “tide” in Japanese, is significantly smaller in both width and height than the existing SBGH Hi-Beat collection, the brand’s primary diver for years.
The case measures a fraction over 40mm wide and 13mm high, and is made of the proprietary High-Intensity Titanium, which is 30-percent lighter than steel and maintains a lustrous tone.
Despite its smaller size, it offers 300m of water resistance, which tops its predecessor by 100m.
