TAG Heuer’s Classic Affordable Racing Watch Gets a Striking New Edition

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph has been on a hot streak ever since it debuted at Watches and Wonders last year.

A return of TAG Heuer’s original mid-’80s watch, the new Formula 1 generation keeps the retro styling but updates the technology with TAG Heuer’s excellent solar-powered Solargraph movement.

The result was TAG Heuer’s buzziest watch of 2025, and the revived collection has only gotten more exciting in the year and change since, as TAG has used its position as the official timekeeper of Formula One to launch several special editions of the watch tied to specific races.

The latest pays homage to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Netherlands, with a very, very orange makeover.

Orange to the Max

If you’ve ever watched the Netherlands compete in an international sporting event, like the Olympics, then you know the country has a thing for bright orange.

The Dutch flag is made up of equal parts orange, blue and white, but unlike the United States’ equal-opportunity approach of using red, white and blue athletic uniforms, the Netherlands goes all in on orange.

This national quirk is also on display in the stands at Zandvoort, which traditionally sees a sea of orange-clad fans rooting for their favorite national son, Max Verstappen.

The Dutch driver is arguably the greatest to ever take the wheel of a Formula One car, and he also happens to be a TAG Heuer ambassador as he drives for the brand’s team partner, Red Bull Racing.

The new Formula 1 Solargraph Verstappen will almost certainly strap to his wrist post-race in Zandvoort features a sandblasted 38mm stainless steel case with its bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel and rubber strap both in bold, Dutch orange.

The chapter ring is orange with red markings, while the hands and applied index surrounds are all in red, making a cool, gradual transition from orange to red as you move toward the center of the opaline gray dial.

Oh, one more thing. This year marks the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, as its promotor has opted not to maintain the race’s place on the Formula One calendar moving forward. So this new Solargraph functions as something of a keepsake for Zandvoort superfans, as the future of the track’s involvement in F1 remains uncertain.

Availability and pricing

With this new Solargraph acting as a swan song to the Dutch Grand Prix, it’s naturally a limited edition. The maxxed-out version on the orange rubber strap retails for $2,150 and is limited to 1,500 pieces. There’s also a more demure version that eschews rubber in favor of a sandblasted steel bracelet. That one is a little bit pricier at $2,250, and quite a bit rarer with a run of just 1,000 pieces.

Both versions will be available to preorder from TAG Heuer on August 18, ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix on August 23.
