In just a few short years, Yema’s dive watches have come an awfully long way.
The reborn Superman diver was always a huge driving force behind the French brand’s resurgence over the past decade, thanks to its mix of affordability and retro good looks. And while the Superman offered some authentic mid-century heritage and a quirky feature in its locking bezel mechanism, it generally wasn’t all that exciting, with a largely Submariner-derived design and common third-party automatic movement.
But more recently, Yema has used its flagship dive watch as a platform for experimentation, utilizing interesting new materials, in-house movements (including tourbillons) and more daring design choices.
The latest is one of the brand’s most interesting dive watches yet, as it takes the most retro Superman variant of all, the Skin Diver, and transforms it into a futuristic stunner that comes alive deep underwater.

How illuminating
Full-lume watches have become one of the emerging sports watch trends of the 2020s, with Bell & Ross experimenting with full-lume cases, Christopher Ward trotting out lumed straps and IWC launching a watch with fully lumed, well, everything.
The latest is Yema, which has given its most retro diver a surprisingly contemporary makeover. In light, the Superman Skin Diver Slim Full Lume simply looks like a white variant of the micro-rotor-powered diver. But in the dark, like, for exaple, underwater, nearly every aspect of this watch glows.
