As knife aficionados are well aware, a singular super steel has steadily dominated the past couple of years, popping up in more and more new and existing knives.

I am referring, of course, to MagnaCut, which continues to offer a superior blend of toughness, corrosion resistance and edge retention.

Like many others, standout American brand Benchmade has been introducing the super steel to more and more knives lately.

Today it reaches perhaps the most fitting member of the lineup, the robust, hardworking, tactically oriented Adamas.

Tougher than the rest

For the record, Benchmade had already dipped its toe in these waters, bringing MagnaCut to the smaller Mini Adamas.

But now the Oregon City, Oregon-based brand is going all in, adding the super steel to not only the full-sized Adamas but also the fixed blade and automatic versions.

The move makes all the sense in the world given the knife’s adherents, including Special Forces members and survivalists.

Not for nothing, these folks are likely tackling tougher challenges than the average owner of some of the brand’s better-known EDC knives, excellent though they may be.

Boasting a generous 3.82-inch drop-point blade, the Shane Sibert-designed knife is one of the brand’s most aggressive offerings.

No wonder it is available in both straight and partially serrated versions, complete with spine jimping, a blood groove and a protective Cerakote treatment.

The ruggedness is only boosted by the durable, dependable Axis Lock, a Benchmade staple that together with the ambidextrous thumb stud ensures smooth and swift one-handed deployment and retraction.

Rounding out the formidable package are full-length stainless steel liners flanked by light but tough G10 handle scales, holed out to save a bit of weight, and a reversible deep-carry clip, keeping the knife safe at your side until called upon.

The Benchmade Adamas is available in OD Green and Black variants, with either a straight or partially serrated edge, for $325.
