Early last year, CJRB introduced one of its best pocket knives to date, the pitch-perfect Maximal.

Designed by Knife Center’s own David C. Andersen, the $50 folder offers great looks, smooth functionality and tremendous value.

If you dig that knife but wish it were just a little … bigger, today is your lucky day.

CJRB just launched its fittingly named follow-up, the Mega Maximal, which retains all the original’s best features while boosting the blade length by 16 percent.

Super size thee 

In terms of the cold, hard specs, that takes the blade from 2.95 inches to 3.43, while the overall length jumps from 6.89 inches to 7.84 and the weight increases from three ounces to 3.18.

The new dimensions suit not only those who want a bit more of a cutting edge (nearly half an inch), but also those with bigger hands, who stand a better chance of snagging a full four-fingered grip.

Beyond the increase in size, CJRB did something very smart in that they changed virtually nothing else.

The Mega retains the original blade’s drop-point shape and AR-RPM9 steel, a proprietary Artisan Cutlery/CJRB material valued for its affordability, corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening.

Among the three variants, one is coated in black PVD while the other two get a classic stone wash finish.

The knife also features ambidextrous thumb studs, a ceramic ball bearing pivot and a crossbar lock, ensuring swift, smooth one-handed deployment and retraction of the blade.

Meanwhile, the ergonomically shaped handle continues to be made of tough yet lightweight micarta, with a textured finish for a secure, confident grip.
