It’s been ten years since Bang & Olufsen introduced the Beolab 90, which it still calls “the ultimate floorstanding speaker.”

The active loudspeaker system is an absolute behemoth. Each speaker stands four feet tall and weighs 302 pounds, and promises to deliver true 360-degree sound thanks to 18 individually amplified drivers that fire audio in all directions. A pair currently sells for $211,800.

Now, as part of the legendary Danish audio manufacturer’s 100th birthday celebrations, it’s introducing a special-edition version of its sculptural loudspeaker system.

The “Titan Edition” of the Beolab 90 is essentially a stripped down version of the loudspeaker to what Bang & Olufsen is calling “its most essential form.” The acoustic veils of the original have been removed to expose the drivers and the raw, hand-finished, precision-milled aluminum surfaces underneath.

Bang & Olufsen says that the Titan Edition is “a study in material purity and performance-led design, conceived for collectors and listeners who value both beauty and acoustic mastery.”

The Beolab 90 Titan Edition is the latest creation from B&O’s Atelier program, a collaboration with the brand’s master artisans that produces custom versions of its products. Bang & Olufsen claims that this exclusive edition exemplifies its “mastery in transforming acoustic engineering into a work of art.”

Other recent products that have leveraged B&O’s Atelier artisans have been the Beosound 2 (Gradient Collection) wireless speaker and the Beosound Premiere soundbar.

At the heart of the Beolab 90 Titan Edition is an aluminum cabinet that has been hand-sandblasted to produce “a raw yet elegant” texture. The base panels are polished and shiny, which the brand claims gives the illusion that the loudspeakers are levitating.

Bang & Olufsen’s Atelier artisans have added numerous refined details to the Titan Edition loudspeakers, with one standout being the aluminum rings, which feature contrasting matte and polished finishes and encircle each woofer.

Price and availability

At the time of writing, Bang & Olufsen hasn’t revealed how much the Beolab 90 Titan Edition loudspeakers will cost, though it’s probably safe to assume the price will be north of $211,800, which is what a pair of the standard edition models are going for.

The company hasn’t stated how many Titan Edition models it will make, either, though it has said they’ve been crafted in “exceptionally limited numbers.”

Additionally, Bang & Olufsen has stated that the Titan Edition will be the first of five special-edition Beolab 90 loudspeakers it has in the works. The four other versions will be revealed in “the coming months.”
