Last year, Nike’s best-looking rugged sneaker launch was undoubtedly the Vomero Roam. The winterized take on the beloved Vomero 5 silhouette proved to be an early indicator of the breakout success Nike would experience with the Vomero franchise in 2025, as the line has become a $100 million business for the brand and a top-seller among specialty retailers.

Now, the Vomero Roam is back for this foul-weather season in a new colorway that aligns perfectly with one of Nike’s most significant design trends of the year.

More military inspiration

Although the name “Sequoia” green on this sneaker isn’t quite as overtly military as other Nike colors, such as “Light Army” and “Surplus”, the overall vibe of the shoe is still very much tactical.

As I noted earlier this summer, outside of sports, Nike’s biggest design inspiration of 2025 appears to be the military.

From camouflage patterns on the Air Max 90 to olive green colorways across the brand’s lifestyle lines, to even a recent Realtree version of the new Vomero Premium, tactical influences have become a recurring theme throughout the year.

If you were wondering why this colorway had “Light Lemon Twist” in the name, it’s because the bright pop of yellow does make an appearance on the shoe’s grippy outsole.

This new Sequoia/Light Lemon Twist/Black colorway of the Vomero Roam further exemplifies this lean perfectly, combining deep green and black tones with the shoe’s already burly outsole to create a distinctly modern, tactical vibe.

Beyond the color scheme, the sneaker retains all of the excellent foul-weather details that make the Vomero Roam such a capable winter shoe.

Here’s a look at my personal pair of Vomero Roams that I took over the summer after wearing them through the winter and muddy spring in the Pacific Northwest. Although I did wipe them down once or twice, I was still impressed with how well they looked, even after heavy use.

Though it’s not Gore-Tex equipped like the recently revealed Vomero Roam 18 Gore-Tex, I’ve personally found that its combo of durable materials, closed seams, a thermal lining, and an oversized rubber mudguard that wraps around the shoe to protect against wet conditions make it one of the best foul-weather sneaker’s Nike’s ever released.

I bought a pair last winter and wore them throughout a full rain and mud season in the Pacific Northwest. Once the sun finally peeked out this summer, I walked away very impressed with how well they protected my feet from mud, rain, and snow – and how good they still looked after heavy use (as you can see from the photo above.)

Pricing and Availability

The Vomero Roam’s Lace toggle system is one of the sneaker’s best features. It’s easy to adjust and features a hook to keep it in place. I found that once it’s set, there’s no real further need to fiddle with it. The sneaker still feels secure to wear even after constantly slipping the shoe on and off.

Unlike some other new colors we’ve seen pop up on the Roam that have been locked to far-off geographies – such as the Metallic Pewter version we spotted a few weeks back, which, at least for now, is available only in South Korea- this new Sequoia/Light Lemon Twist/Black version is available now directly from Nike for $190.
