Norqain is known for its best-in-class progressive integrated sports watches, but the esteemed independent Swiss watchmaker still does traditional designs with the best of them.

For proof, look no further than the new Adventure Sport “Golden Hour” collection, comprising two hearty tool watches sharing a black-and-gold theme inspired by the enchanting final hour of sunlight each day.

Despite the romantic pretense of these watches, both are highly capable members of Norqain’s Adventure Sport collection. Each features very respectable movements and hearty case construction with 100m water resistance.

The black-and-gold theme reminds me of the panda dial Freedom 60 Chrono 43, one of the best chronographs released in 2025. Both watches exhibit the same talent for seamlessly blending modern materials and detailing with mid-century design language.

Funny enough, half of the brilliant luster on the “Golden Hour” watches comes from bronze. The case and bezel of the Adventure Sport 42mm are made of bronze.

A sunny chronometer

The Adventure Sport 42mm is a well-established time-and-date watch that, as the name suggests, is built to handle any physically demanding activities you can throw at it. The “Golden Hour” iteration is essentially the existing bronze reference with Norqain’s signature herringbone dial in black rather than green.

This sturdy adventure watch is powered by a chronometer-certified Norquain Caliber N08 automatic movement. Based on the esteemed Sellita Caliber SW200-1, it beats at 4Hz and provides a 41-hour power reserve.

The brushed bronze of the case and knurled-edge bezel are complemented by gold-tone applied hour markers, creating a smooth execution of the coveted black-and-gilt color scheme.

Once the sun finally sets, this special-edition Adventure Sport 42mm reveals a fun secret detail. The obelisk hour and minute hands, arrow seconds hand and hour markers are filled with green-glowing Super-LumiNova, with the exception of 5:00 and 6:00.

The span of time that typically encompasses the golden hour anywhere near the equator is fittingly marked by an orange glow.

A gilded chronograph

The other half of the “Golden Hour” collection is an Adventure Sport Chrono 44mm with a black DLC-coated stainless steel case and bezel. It is a similar build to the existing blacked-out reference, with gold-plating applied to the snailed subdials, central hands, hour markers and brand logo on the dial.

The darker of the two watches in this limited edition release, it features Norquain’s signature herringbone dial texture in black as well. The hands on the 30-minute counter at 3:00, 12-hour counter at 6:00 and small seconds at 9:00 are coated in black lacquer.

A double-domed sapphire crystal with AR coating on both sides, and a DLC-coated screw-down crown and pushers, ensure the watch’s 100m water resistance.

This chronograph is equipped with a diver-style unidirectional rotating bezel, enhanced with a knurled grip. It has a simple 60-minute track, graduated out by the minute for the first 15, and there is a lume dot in the pip.

It is powered by a Norqain Caliber N19 automatic chronograph movement, based on the Sellita Caliber SW510a. It beats at 4Hz and has a 62-hour power reserve. With both “Golden Hour” references, the movements are visible through a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback.
