Béis, the bag brand started by actress and entrepreneur Shay Mitchell, has already established itself as a reliable, stylish contender in the travel space, capable of rivaling the likes of Away, Monos and more heavy-hitter luggage brands.

Now, the brand is embracing a more utilitarian, militaristic aesthetic with its latest launch, the Béis Pro Travel Collection.

You haul

Béis bags have always been pretty minimalist and refined in their designs, and that’s not changing with this new collection. However, they are a pretty significant stylistic departure in other ways.

The collection spans four separate bags (and an additional accessory pack), which all have the same unified styling — an aesthetic inspired by utilitarian, military packs. While still highly minimalist, they’re a bit more aggressive and masculine than the brand’s other offerings, though the brand still states they’re unisex.

However, it’s important to note that the military styling doesn’t just come in the form of the bags’ appearance. It extends to the way they’re crafted, too.

All four bags have ballistic nylon bodies, a highly durable fabric used across innumerable tactical applications and a staple of military gear worldwide. And that material, by the way, is highly resistant to punctures, abrasions, scrapes, cuts and is even naturally water-resistant, making it ideal for hard-use applications like travel.

The large roller bags are ideal as checked luggage, but the smaller bags make great carry-ons and personal items.

Bon voyage

The bags’ durable exteriors are the clearest, most obvious highlight, but there’s a lot more going on with this collection that you can’t see at a glance. For instance, the Pro Travel Sling, a crossbody bag, is laden with hidden features, like sneaky pockets and key tethers, that make it a formidable travel companion.

The highlight bag, however, might be the Pro Rolling Backpack. This is a bag that can be worn like a regular backpack, complete with shoulder straps and a padded back pad. However, it can also easily, quickly transform into a rolling bag with a telescoping handle and dual heavy-duty wheels. Best of all, the wheels can be covered and hidden (just like the handle) when you put it back into backpack mode, and nobody will be the wiser.

Along with the bags, Béis also offers an additional Camera Gear Insert for modular storage.

Two other bags in the collection flank the roller in terms of size. There’s a more svelte, EDC-friendly backpack and a larger, semi-hard-shelled checked bag, which combines the toughness of full-polycarbonate luggage with the versatility of soft-sided bags.

There’s also an affordable, modular camera insert for those who like bringing tech on their travels (although it could be repurposed for a number of uses). All told, the whole collection is perfectly situated for jet-setting.

All the bags are especially well-suited to travel, but the smaller ones are also great for commuting and EDC use.
