Citizen is not often a brand that makes major, splashy headlines. Yet, despite its lower overall profile, this outfit has remained a consistent presence in the watch world, especially among Japanese brands.
There’s a litany of reasons this is the case, including the company’s consistent output of reliable, affordable timepieces. If you want a good-looking watch that will get the job done right nine times out of ten, you can’t go wrong with a Citizen.
The brand’s latest, the Citizen Promaster Land GMT, fits that bill to a T. This sneaky, stylish launch has a ton of potential, especially for frequent flyers with a penchant for outdoor adventure.

Land lubber
As its name suggests, this is a GMT watch, meaning it has normal three-handed time-keeping capabilities alongside an extra hour hand for keeping track of time in a second time zone. Of course, an extra hand doesn’t do the trick alone.
To match that extra hour hand, the watch has a fixed bezel with 24-hour markers. As such, the primary timezone can be read by the standard hour hand, whereas the second timezone follows the extra (yellow) hand as it traces around the bezel.
