Back in 2011, Adidas acquired outdoor performance footwear brand Five Ten. Since then, the brand’s offerings have been a core part of the Three Stripes’ adventure-focused endeavors.

Now, the Five Ten sub-brand has announced a revamp to one of its core sneakers, the Guide Tennie, and the addition of a new high-end edition, the Guide Tennie Pro. And both are geared up for a variety of outdoor activities.

Dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge

These are not hiking shoes. Okay, okay, that’s a little bit of a misdirect. These are not just hiking shoes. Rather — as is often the case with Five Ten offerings — these are multi-activity outdoor shoes. In this particular case, these are approach, climbing and MTB shoes.

To be fair, that is also true for the original Five Ten Guide Tennies. However, these ones have been given a complete ground-up glow-up to make them better and more capable than ever.

The refreshed edition features a Dual-zone Stealth rubber outsole, offering outstanding grip whether you’re on your feet or in the saddle. They also have a “Stealth C4 rubber climbing zone” and an extended wrap-around toe cap for better grip on craggy rocks and boulders.

The upper is a special perforated hexagonal design with twofold functions. First, it’s breathable for comfort in even warmer weather. Second, it’s flexible, allowing you to tighten down when you need to (to help with climbing endeavors).

And that’s just the base shoe. There’s also a new Pro edition…

The pro includes all the same great features as the standard Guide Tennie, but it also has some pretty crucial upgrades to make the shoes even more comfortable and formidable.

For instance, it has an EVA foam midsole for added comfort, impact absorption and more. It also features a Gore-Tex membrane, making the exterior of the shoe completely waterproof and allowing light fording and carefree adventuring when things get a little soggy.

The versatility of both the Guide Tennie and Guide Tennie Pro is a breath of fresh air in a world where so much equipment is activity-specific. With these sneakers, you can feasibly go on a multi-terrain adventure using multiple modes of travel while packing only one pair of footwear.

And better still, this sneaker doesn’t sacrifice performance for its versatility. It’s still built rock-solid and offers precisely the kinds of features you’d need for any one of its three intended types of adventure, as well as all three.
