Elipson prides itself on being the “oldest French speaker brand.” It has a history dating back to 1938.

Today, the company specializes in high-end loudspeakers that can be quite pricey. For example, its flagship Legacy loudspeaker range can cost well north of $10,000 (depending on the model).

Of course, Elipson offers more affordable ranges that cater to a broader range of aspiring audiophiles. And this past summer, it introduced the Prestige Facet II, a second generation of its popular Prestige Facet range, which hadn’t been updated since 2016.

This Prestige Facet II range comprised 10 models, including three floorstanding loudspeakers and two bookshelf speakers, as well as other models to build out a home theater or hi-fi system. Most were priced between $600 and $1,300

Fast forward to the present, and Elipson is introducing a third pair of bookshelf speakers to the Prestige Facet II range. Only this one is not like the others.

Active and Bluetooth

The new Prestige Facet II 6 Active BT technically sits between the other two bookshelf speakers in the range, the Prestige Facet II 6B (~$630) and the Prestige Facet II 8B (~$900). But unlike those other passive models, Elipson’s newest set of bookshelf speakers is an active wireless system.

That’s right, it’s a powered system that boasts a range of modern connections and supports Bluetooth streaming. According to the brand, it “builds on the fundamentals of the Prestige Facet II series while introducing expanded connectivity.”

The Prestige Facet II 6 Active BT speakers match the aesthetics of the other bookshelf speakers in the range and borrow similar drivers. The speakers have a 2-way design that pairs a 25mm tweeter with a 5-inch mid/bass driver. And they have Class D amplification that delivers 100 watts (or 50 watts per channel).

Elipson claims the speakers deliver an “expansive, detailed, and highly  musical sound.”

TV, turntable and computer connections

Like many of today’s wireless active speaker systems, the Prestige Facet II 6 Active BT is highly versatile. It boasts inputs for USB-C and HDMI ARC, allowing you to use them as computer or TV speakers, respectively. When connected via USB-C, they support high-resolution audio up to 24-bit / 192 kHz.

The speakers come integrated with a moving magnet (MM) phono stage, so you can easily use them as turntable speakers. And there are RCA line-in, optical and coaxial inputs for using them with more traditional playback sources.

There’s also a subwoofer output if you want to expand it to a 2.1-channel system.

The system doesn’t support Wi-Fi streaming, unfortunately, but it does support streaming over Bluetooth. Despite this, the system does support AptX HD and thus can still stream pretty high-resolution audio.

Elipson claims that the Prestige Facet II 6 Active BT is “a complete, high-performance audio solution that is easy to integrate in a workspace, a living room, or any multimedia environment.”
