A premium take on a digital icon

The GMC-B2100D-1A is a meaningful evolution of the 2100-series CasiOak line — itself a modern reimagining of the original 1983 DW-5000C G-Shock, with an octagonal bezel that has since attracted a cult following for its resemblance to a certain Swiss integrated sports watch.

Where earlier 2100-series models split the difference between analog and digital, this one goes all the way: a three-subdial chronograph layout replaces the LCD display entirely, giving the watch a more traditional aesthetic than any G-Shock before it.

The case and bracelet are stainless steel throughout, with Casio applying some of its most refined finishing ever for the G-Shock line, as ABlogtoWatch noted in its breakdown.

Case in point: the octagonal bezel is radially brushed on top, with mirror-polished slopes, while the case sides alternate between vertically brushed and polished segments.

That attention to detail carries to the bracelet, which retains the classic dimpled G-Shock links but gains crisp chamfer polishing. At 46.3mm wide and 12.4mm thick, the watch is substantial but wearable — notably heavier on the wrist than a resin G-Shock, which only reinforces the upscale impression.

The dial features a circular brushed finish across the main surface, with subdials at 12, 6 and 9 o’clock handling mode/battery level, dual-time zone with chronograph hours and minutes, and a retrograde day display, respectively. A date window sits at 4:30.

Despite the purely analog presentation, the Module 5733 movement underneath is loaded: Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth sync via the Casio Watches app, a 24-hour chronograph, world timer with 300 cities, countdown timer, perpetual calendar through 2099 and 200 meters of water resistance all come standard.

The watch is also made in Japan, a distinction worth noting at any price point.

Availability and pricing

Given how long it took for this model to become widely available in the US — it was a select dealer exclusive before April 2025 — it’s hard to imagine a better or easier way to buy it.
