The traditional painter’s chore coat is deeply rooted in utilitarian design, but modern versions toe the line between workwear and everyday staples built for the long haul. 

That interplay of rugged durability and refined style is on full display in Carhartt’s latest release, a high-end painter’s chore coat highlighting the brand’s deep heritage and commitment to quality.

Rugged roots

Carhartt’s Crafted Series, which the brand launched in 2025, is a special-edition, premium workwear line that blends the brand’s deep heritage with heavy-duty, refined materials and reinforced construction.

The latest entry to the quality-focused label is the Drill Painter Chore Coat, inspired by the brand’s original version from over a century ago, designed for both the job and daily wear.

The Drill Painter Chore Coat is built with a durable 9-ounce, 100 percent cotton drill fabric that breaks in over time, developing its own patina and fit. The loose fit and two-sleeve construction is designed with mobility in mind, and also makes for an easy layering option.

Like any painter’s chore coat worth its salt, this edition includes a wide variety of pockets, perfect for brushes, carpenter pencils and other small tools … or your EDC loadout.

True to the Crafted Series’ elite standards, the lined front pockets are reinforced for the long haul, alongside the triple-needle stitching across the garment and the extra arm seams.

The metal hardware drives home the heritage roots of this undyed jacket.

As a finishing touch, the buttons feature legacy branding, and there’s a special-edition, archive-inspired Carhartt button on the secured right chest pocket.
