The DW-6900 needs little introduction.

Introduced in 1995, the digital watch broke away from G-Shock’s square-shape tradition and entered a new world of perfect circles. It became a huge hit, especially in streetwear and hip-hop cultures, and continues to be a fan-favorite today.

The indelible aesthetic hasn’t really changed over the past 30 years, but there have been countless variants along the way thanks to how easy the watch’s canvas lends itself to colors and patterns. But with the launch of the new Bold Camo pack, the 6900 has arguably never looked more rugged.

Camo with a capital “G”

Part of the new Camo & Gold series, the DW-6900CMG-3 brings a new aesthetic to the urban wristwatch. The resin case and strap have now been MAP-printed with a proprietary green-and-black, military-style camouflage pattern.

The Casio sub-brand has incorporated its “G” insignia in pattern in the past but never before has it been so integrated into the design. At first glance, you can hardly tell the branding is part of the camo print, but it’s there hiding in plain sight — a sort of camo within a camo.

Against the camo are gold accents on the bezel and dial. Most of the text is given the radiant color, save for the all-black “G” on the Super Illuminator button. Gold is also used on the chapter ring between the bezel and the black dial.

The same ol’ 6900

Aside from that, the watch maintains the hallmarks of your classic DW-6900, including Triple Graph indicators and features like a stopwatch, calendar and multi-function alarm. The timepiece also boasts 200m of water resistance.

The Bold Camo pack features two other 6900 variants, which feature significantly less camo, along with two GA-700 models and the relatively-new GA-V01. This is the first V01 to be roped into a series with other watch lines.

Availability and pricing

The DW-6900CMG-3 is already popping up on G-Shock’s international stores, with Japan’s listing showing a ¥17,600 price tag (~$110), which is the same as your standard resin 6900 models.

No word yet on US availability but these are likely to land Stateside later this year.
