Dali is known for making really high-end loudspeakers, many of which are out of most people’s budgets. As an example, its flagship floorstanding speakers, the Kore, have a six-figure price tag.

Recently, however, the Danish audio specialist has made a concerted effort to make its high-end sound more affordable.

A stack of five compact bookshelf speakers in different colors: dark wood, mustard yellow, navy blue, cream, and black. Each speaker has a circular woofer and a smaller tweeter above it, with the brand name "DALI" visible on the woofer surrounds. The black speaker is tilted on its side, while the others are upright, with the dark wood speaker placed on top of the mustard yellow one. The background is plain white.

More entry-level hi-fi

This past fall, Dali introduced the Kupid ($600), a relatively affordable pair of bookshelf speakers. And then in December, it announced its Sonik range of loudspeakers that, according to the brand, aims to set “a new benchmark in performance for the price.”

This new Sonik range features two bookshelf speakers: the smaller Sonik 1 ($900) and the larger Sonik 3 ($1,200). And there are three floorstanding models: the Sonik 5 ($1,800), the Sonik 7 ($2,800) and the flagship Sonik 9 ($4,500).

All these Sonik loudspeakers will be available starting in early February.

If those are still out of your price range, fear not — you can get Dali’s excellent sound for less if you shop for their slightly older loudspeakers.

That’s because Dali’s new Sonik range is taking the place of its Oberon range of loudspeakers in the company’s offerings, and thus many of those models are currently steeply discounted — like nearly half off.

An Oberon discount

First introduced in 2018, Dali describes its Oberon range as “redefining what’s possible in audio quality and design within its price class.”

The Oberon 1 is the most entry-level bookshelf speaker in the range. Normally $750, but you can stag a pair for $499 right now from Crutchfield.

The Oberon 3 is the larger of the two bookshelf speaker offerings in the range. A pair normally costs $950, but Crutchfield is selling them for $650 right now.

If you’re interested in floorstanding models, the smallest and midrange models in the range, the Oberon 5 and Oberon 7, are both steeply discounted.

A pair of the Oberon 5 normally costs $1,500, but numerous retailers are selling them for just under $1,000 right now. And a pair of the Oberon 7 normally costs $2,000, but Crutchfield is currently selling them for $1,398.

The largest floorstanding speakers in the range, the Oberon 9, don’t appear to be discounted at this time. A pair still sells for $4,000.
