It was already one of the best wireless active speakers. Now, it arguably got even cooler.

The KEF LSX II is one of the best wireless active speaker systems you can buy — it’s essentially a smaller and more affordable version of the KEF LS50 Wireless II, which sells for $3,000 (but is $1,000 off now).

And now the famed British hi-fi manufacturer has introduced two new color options for its LSX II.

Amber Haze and Cotton White

When KEF launched the LSX II back in 2022, it offered them in five different finishes, including Mineral White, Lava Red, Carbon Black, Cobalt Blue and Soundwave (which is a kind of light copper).

However, KEF appears to have eliminated three of those options, only keeping Carbon Black and Soundwave. The good news is that it has added two new finishes: Amber Haze and Cotton White.

The more striking of the new finishes, in my opinion, is the Amber Haze, as it’s kind of buttery yellow and lights up the room. Although pretty, the Cotton White is quite similar to the Mineral White finish that KEF offered back when the speaker system was originally launched.

The difference is that each of these new colorways comes with a fabric-wrapped cabinet, which is something only a few of the original options, including the LSX II in Carbon Black, which KEF still sells.

Same LSX II speaker system

Aside from the new finishes, each is the same KEF LSX II wireless active speaker system as before. Each speaker is individually amplified and powered, and you don’t need a wire connecting the left and right speakers together (although you can for even high-resolution audio).

And the system is super versatile thanks to a wide range of wireless and wired connections. You can stream audio to the speakers via Wi-Fi (or Bluetooth), and it supports most major streaming methods, including AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Chromecast.

Just like before, you can use the LSX II as computer speakers thanks to a 3.5mm aux or USB-C input.

As for wired connections (which are located on the back of the primary speaker), the LSX II has many of the bases covered — there’s 3.5mm auxiliary, optical Toslink, USB-C and HDMI eARC — so you can use them as TV or computer speakers.

It’s worth noting that KEF also sells the LSX II LT $1,000), an identical but more affordable speaker system, though it comes with a few trade-offs.

Price and availability

KEF has raised the prices of many of its speakers this year, including the LSX II, which initially launched at $1,300, but now sells for $1,500.

The KEF LSX II in Amber Haze and Cotton White are both available now. They cost $1,500, just like the existing other models.

KEF LSX II (Amber Haze)

KEF introduced two new color options for its LSX II wireless active speaker system: Amber Haze (shown) and Cotton White. Each of these new models has fabric-wrapped cabinet. Aside from the new finishes, each is the same KEF LSX II wireless active speaker system as before. It’s a plug-and-play speaker system that’s super versatile with a wealth of wired and wireless connections.
