Whether your 4×4 is a trail regular or it’s really only adventurous in spirit, lighting is an essential part of every rig. After all, even if it’s just for show, a lifted Jeep Wrangler or a Toyota 4Runner doesn’t really look the part without a couple of foglamps perched on the front bumper or a light bar stretched across the top of the windscreen.

That said, between initial setup and subsequent adjustments, they can be a real inconvenience out in the field. Manual operation means that you’re left fiddling with tools and fasteners as you try to aim the beam for best use.

However, Baja Designs has just come out with an accessory that promises to make this problem a thing of the past.

Lighting the way

It’s called the Reflex Light Actuator, and it’s the first fully compatible actuator system designed exclusively for Baja Designs lights. Having honed the technology at professional race-level, the brand is now bringing it to consumers.

Baja Designs is offering actuators for a variety of lights and light bars, with each one bringing a wide range of motion.

It works exactly as it sounds — a low-profile actuator with an integrated wiring harness mounts to existing Baja Designs light products to provide instant, on-the-fly control of light pitch angle.

In practice, it allows drivers to adjust their lights up to 20 degrees from within their vehicle, ensuring ideal coverage and spread over terrain changes, climbs, descents and high-speed sections. (Needless to say, if your lights aren’t pointed in the right direction, they’re not doing you much good.)

While it seems like a pretty straightforward little solution, it’s not one that’s existed until now. At least, not one touting the same kind of compatibility with Baja Designs products — and that’s a big part of the draw.

Simple but effective

After all, installation couldn’t be simpler. Baja Designs engineered the Relflex Light Actuator to mount directly to existing light brackets with its included hardware.

Accordingly, there’s no fabrication or guesswork whatsoever — just straightforward plug-and-play installation.

What’s more, Baja Designs has developed an entire ecosystem around the Reflex Light Actuator. So, in addition to selling kits for different sizes of lights (Baja Designs claims compatibility with everything from the LP Series and XL Series to the S8 OnX6+ light bars), the brand also offers a variety of wiring harnesses to customize your setup.

Considering that Baja Designs has also engineered its actuators such that they can be set to momentary or power control modules and also controlled simultaneously, there are tons of possibilities for perfecting your visibility.

Pricing and availability

The Baja Designs Reflex Light Actuator kit is available now for $99. Larger lightbar kits sell for $199, while wiring harness options start from $41.95.
