Blanc Creatives makes carbon steel cookware that’s pretty much unrivaled in craftsmanship and beauty (in the U.S. at least). They never go on sale, but today they are.
If you’re not familiar with Blanc, it’s a Virginia-based craft studio making carbon steel cookware almost entirely by hand (they’re not quite strong enough to bend metal by hand, yet). It’s a hair lighter than its cast-iron skillet cousins, but carries the same elite-level searing capabilities. Like cast iron, it does require seasoning, but it isn’t brittle — if you drop a cast-iron skillet it is very likely to chip or shatter, carbon steel won’t. Due to these qualities, carbon steel cookware sees its highest usage in professional kitchens, which is a pretty decent sign the product is worth your kitchen’s consideration.
Blanc Creatives’ 8-inch skillet is $20 on Huckberry right now.
