The Bulova Hack watch is based on a classic, hand-winding design (the MIL-W-3818A, evidently) from the post-War period, though of course, hacking was a feature in watches that the company produced under contract for the U.S. Army during the War (the famed A-11). If you’re looking for an updated version of the MIL-W-3818A with more modern case proportions, you should definitely check out the Hack watch from Bulova, currently available on Macy’s for 32% off ($186, down from $275). The Hack watch uses a three-hand quartz movement housed in a 38mm steel case, comes with a black leather strap and is water-resistant down to 30 meters. It also comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
While this watch would be absolutely killer with a mechanical movement, it’s otherwise a dead-ringer for its military forbear updated with a larger case, which is pretty cool — and of course, the use of quartz keeps the price down. At $186, this is the perfect weekend beater watch, and its military design looks just as cool today as it did in the 1950s and 1960s.
