Looking to get fit for real? Choose your own goals and dive right in. Those are the two big takeaways from new research published in the September issue of JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) Cardiology.

A four-month study of 500 subjects participating in a gamified fitness program found that those whose daily step goals were self-chosen and implemented immediately saw significantly better results than a control group, and the increased activity levels were sustained over a two-month follow-up.

lululemon Surge Hybrid Pant

Presented by lululemon

Finding a decent pant that keeps you warm and comfortable while running is not always an easy task. But now it can be with the Surge Hybrid Pant from lululemon. Designed specifically with running in mind, this lightweight run pant is cut to stay out of your way without restricting your quads. Plus, they're made with a warm and sweat-wicking fabric so you can crush your miles outdoors even as the temperature drops. Of course, they also have characteristically lululemon details like reflective hits (to ensure you stay safe during your night sessions), and a discreet zippered pocket in the seam (for your small necessities). We wouldn't blame you for never wanting to take these off.
